RAGHDA MOUAWAD
actress, theatre instructor
Raghda Mouawad is an actress and a theatre instructor. She has been performing in various theatre creations and performances in France, Belgium, Morocco, and Lebanon, choosing to work mostly collectively, in unconventional site-specific projects with clear socio-political themes. She has been teaching theatre in the Secondary School at International College in Beirut. In 2019, she was selected as one of 35 scholars worldwide to be part of the International Forum organized by Theatertreffen, a German theatre festival, to exchange ideas and experiences across artistic and national boundaries.
She cofounded in 2018 the YAZAN Professional Artist Training (YPAT), a professional alternative theatre training in Lebanon with international trainers and theatre makers to answer the lacks in life long vocational theatre training in the country.
She performed in D’Hommages, created and directed by Jaouad Essounani (2008); Fais voir tes jambes Meryl Streep, an adaptation of two best seller novels of writer Rachid Al Daif by Rahim El Asri (2008); Mar2it Tari2, an ambulatory theatre project by Tabadol in Hamra neighbourhood (2011); 10,453: A Story About Life in 1 km sq of Trash created and directed by Camille Brunel (2012-2013); Monopoly Beirut, an interactive performance by Waraq (2013), to name a few.
Raghda holds a Masters' degree in Theatre with distinction in 2006 from the University of Lumière Lyon 2.
